During a recent appearance on The View (video can be found here from The Democratic Underground), when asked by Joy Behar why she was refusing to hold impeachment hearings, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi responded by saying “If somebody had a crime that the president had committed, that would be a different story” — apparently the articles of impeachment introduced by Senator Kucinich, the summary of crimes (PDF) listed by Senator Conyers, the report (PDF) from the Government Accountability Office detailing numerous abuses of signing statements by President Bush or the repeated illegal use of propaganda to lie the country to war don’t represent crimes that Bush committed. Why is Pelosi lying and trying to keep Bush’s crimes covered up? Pelosi’s blatant disregard for the law and the citizens she is allegedly serving are effectively giving the president imperial powers while doing away with any oversight or accountability. Refusing to comply with subpoenas and contempt citations, illegally spying on citizens before September 11, 2001, meaning he committed numerous felonies, not to mention war crimes…the list goes on and on.

There is more than ample evidence of crimes committed by Bush and his administration. There is more than ample evidence that his crimes have been covered up by leadership from both parties in Congress who would end up being indicted for some of the same crimes. Instead of doing the right thing by the people and the Constitution, they prefer to end up going down in flames as many in the Bush administration eventually will.

Since before becoming House Speaker, impeachment has been “off the table.” First they had to “build the case,” then they “didn’t have the votes,” then there “wasn’t enough time.” Now Pelosi has the audacity to go on national television and claim that Bush and Cheney haven’t committed any crimes — after a dozen people testified before the House Judiciary Committee about blatantly obvious crimes committed by the Bush administration. Impeachment would put an end to Bush’s crimes. After all this country has been through under the genocidal dictatorship of an appointed President, this country deserves to know the truth.

Madame Speaker, contributing to the blatantly obvious crimes, and claiming they don’t exist while ramrodding illicit legislation designed to cover them up is also a crime — not that you’re unfamiliar with covering up crimes since you were made aware of the torture and illegal wiretapping long before the information became public, yet you did nothing to stop it. Intentionally trying to misinform millions about Bush Co’s crimes on top of that makes you appear just as guilty of treason as they are, and if you think you can keep the people in the dark while waiting for the calls of impeachment to subside, you may end up being sadly mistaken.

Try as they may, the Bush administration has failed in their attempts at re-writing history. If you think the people you allegedly serve are going to allow you to re-write history for Bush and all of those, including you, who have helped him destroy Democracy, again, you very well may end up being sadly mistaken.

No one, not the President, not the Congress, not the Courts, not the people, not even the large corporations who continue bribing Congress are above the law. You have been co-conspiring with the most criminal presidential administration — who was never elected and whose complete presidency is based on lies and deceptions used to cover up illegal actions and keep them secret — in the history of this country. Continuing conspiring will only damage you and the other rogue Congress critters who have helped execute and cover up Bush’s illegal actions along the way.

This lie about protecting the Democratic party doesn’t cut it any more. With John McCain and the inept campaign he’s been running — with multiple servings of lies and fallacies — does little if any damage to the Democratic party. Blowing smoke up the public’s butts and refusing to listen to what the public wants will hurt Democrats more than an idiot like McCain could ever dream possible.

Endless Corruption and Unaccountability

Gaping loopholes left in your “Help America Vote Act” do more to aid potential election fraud by making it easier. Several states have been busy preparing for the upcoming Presidential election by prejudicing blocks of voters and making sure they can’t vote.

Noted by Investigative Reporter Greg Palast:

“In swing-state Colorado, the Republican Secretary of State conducted the biggest purge of voters in history, dumping a fifth of all registrations. Guess their color.

In swing-state Florida, the state is refusing to accept about 85,000 new registrations from voter drives – overwhelming Black voters.

In swing state New Mexico, HALF of the Democrats of Mora, a dirt poor and overwhelmingly Hispanic county, found their registrations disappeared this year, courtesy of a Republican voting contractor.

In swing states Ohio and Nevada, new federal law is knocking out tens of thousands of voters who lost their homes to foreclosure.”

Virginia is the latest state preparing to try rigging elections. If enough states end up purging voters, most of which are Democrats, the Democratic Party may be in for a very large, unwelcome surprise when a bigger idiot than Bush — which was previously thought to be impossible — takes office.

Madame Speaker, you made history when you became the first woman Speaker of the House. Attributing to and covering up crimes committed by Bush while blatantly lying to America about it will end up causing you more harm than good, especially along the lines of your legacy. We’re not stupid and we’re well aware of your lies. Bush’s illegally started war isn’t the only reason for the low approval ratings of Congress. Refusing to do anything about Bush’s lawbreaking and impeachment, as well as ramming illegal, unconstitutional FISA legislation through Congress while lying your ass off about ‘compromise’ — and soooo much more all attribute greatly to that rating too. Blaming your actions on everyone else, the same way President Bush does, reveals unattractive character flaws and lack of leadership skills.

How much have you made from Bush’s illegal war? Is it worth the cost of your political career? If you think we’re going to idly sit by and let you and the rest of your corrupt cohorts in Congress get away with sweeping this under the rug, you’re wrong.

The Nancy Pelosi I’ve supported and voted for numerous times in the past has changed considerably…unless I just haven’t paying attention long enough. Either way, you’re not the Nancy Pelosi that I will be supporting any longer. Your blatant disregard for those you allege to serve has become nauseatingly obvious and extremely old. The 110th Congress has become — with The House under your guidance — a very burdensome embarrassment to the American public and an illogical oxymoron to what it is supposed to stand for. You and your corrupted Congress have disgracefully betrayed America and Democracy, and I can assure you, when election time comes around, everyone in the SF Bay Area will know about it.
