Misadventures of a minority-elect President 78

Chronicling the misadventures of our minority-elect President’s alternate reality, alternative facts and the miscreants that comprise his administration so you don’t have to:

At his much needed campaign rally – being surrounded by like-minded minions – Trump berates media for not noticing his achievements… of which there are very few, the fact that our Liar-in-Chief and his illegitimate administration are certifiable dampens Trump’s first 100 daze of delusion, Democrats give up on working with Trump – will focus instead on obstruction as the GOP has done for the past 8 years, despite the obvious Trump can’t understand why he will always be our minority-elect President that has no mandate, our illegitimate leader is unhappy with media coverage of his first 100 lackluster days, Trump’s delusions on Face the Nation include having nothing to do with the election hacking, dissecting Trump’s ill-begotten first 100 days, committing war crimes for political gain, about the ‘threat’ that is North Korea and lots more.

Reagan Adviser Slams Trump Rally Speech As ‘Most Divisive Ever’ From A President article from The Huffington Post. –

And he wonders why the majority of American’s refer to him as the unpopular President with no mandate:

“David Gergen says Trump’s message to Americans who didn’t vote for him was: “I don’t give a damn what you think.”

A former adviser to three Republican presidents called the speech Donald Trump gave before a crowd of supporters Saturday in Pennsylvania the “most divisive” he has ever heard from a president.

David Gergen, a CNN political analyst who advised GOP Presidents Richard Nixon, Gerald Ford and Ronald Reagan — and Democratic President Bill Clinton — said he found the speech “deeply disturbing” with little change from Trump’s bombastic, divisive campaign messages.

Trump slammed the press — again ? as “fake news,” vowed to topple Obamacare and promised to build the border wall between Mexico and the U.S. “Don’t worry, we’re going to have the wall,” Trump said at the rally marking his 100th day as president. “Rest assured. Go home, go to sleep.”…”

Trump ignorantly claims his first 100 days are ‘just about the most successful’ in U.S. history – despite being oblivious to the obvious, Trump keeps making his daughter look foolish, Trump’s lie about saving U.S. jobs is already imploding, after our illegitimate minority-elect President’s first 100 days it’s fair to say that history will not be kind to him or his duplicitous administration, mistrust of the majority in Trump could prove extremely dangerous in the event of a catastrophe rooted in science – or anything else for that matter, the problem with no legal pretext from our War Criminal-in-Chief justifying his bombings in Syria – as well as Afghanistan, ruminations that Twitter users are starting to tune Trump out, why we shouldn’t laugh at Trump’s 100-day faceplant, Sessions tries to cover Trump’s ass over Flynn as our lackluster leader’s Russia scandal continues to grow, GDP lowest in 3 years as Trump’s economy starts its downward spiral and much more.

The Great Job Exodus Is Upon Us: Trump’s Promise to Save American Labor Is Already a Bust article from AlterNet. –
http://www.alternet.org/labor/great-job-exodus-upon-us-trumps-promise-save-american-labor-already-bust

“At least 12,000 positions have moved or are in the process of being moved abroad since late January.

One of the many impossible promises Donald Trump made on the campaign trail was that he, and he alone, would be able to stem the tide of American jobs moving overseas. Though it was on its face a lie as unbelievable and untenable as all the other lies, it only further solidified Trump’s “America First” bonafides with his base.

Fast-forward to nearly 100 days into Trump’s presidency, and his casting of himself as a hybrid strongman-miracle worker seems only slightly less absurd than his supporters’ continued belief in this invention. Not only has Trump not been the great job savior he proclaimed himself, but thousands of jobs continue to flow to places like Mexico and China.

One day after he vowed to exit NAFTA, a ThinkProgress analysis found that “since Trump was sworn in on January 20, at least 11,934 American jobs have either been moved abroad or are in the process of leaving the country.” The figure is based on data from the Department of Labor Trade Adjustment Assistance program, but since there’s no agency or organization that keeps exact tabs on the number of jobs leaving America for cheaper environs abroad, “the actual number is almost certainly much higher.”…”

“When President Donald Trump’s administration announced earlier this week that they were holding an all-hands-on-deck meeting at the White House about the North Korean crisis, the most obvious question was why they would hold a meeting usually reserved for Capitol Hill.

The answer, it seems, is that they put on a show for its own sake.

Nothing new was divulged during the Wednesday meeting, according to a number of senators who attended and spoke with CNN afterward. After briefly appearing to discuss the crisis in North Korea, Trump passed the baton to Secretary of State Rex Tillerson, Director of National Intelligence Dan Coats, Secretary of Defense James Mattis and Chairman of the Joint Chiefs of Staff Joseph Dunford.

“It was a sobering briefing, and an important opportunity for the entire Senate to hear the emerging plans of the Trump administration to confront what is a very real threat to our security,” Democratic Sen. Chris Coons of Connecticut told CNN…”

Despite Trump’s best efforts, we’re not in Nazi Germany:

“We’ve learned a crucial lesson in the past few months: our democracy is not as easily ‘deconstructed’ as Steve Bannon might have hoped

We have learned one crucial lesson since January 20 – we are not Germany in 1933. I shared the fear that Trump represented an existential threat to American democracy. I am not convinced those fears have been entirely allayed. But the first hundred days of the Trump presidency have demonstrated that American institutions and traditions of democratic constitutionalism are not as easily “deconstructed” as Steve Bannon might have hope.

We should be proud of the resistance shown by our civil society. Ordinary citizens have taken to the streets in record numbers; we have confronted our representatives in town-hall meetings; we have flooded members of Congress with letters and emails; we have organized ourselves into groups such as Daily Action, mobilizing the energies of millions unwilling to quietly acquiesce in the destruction of American democracy.

https://www.yahoo.com/news/fact-check-white-houses-claims-trumps-first-100-days-132313392.html

Unsurprisingly, the White House is desperately trying to make our moronic Liar-in-Chief look good:

“As we approach the 100th day of Donald Trump’s presidency, the White House is attempting to thread a needle. The president himself called them a “ridiculous standard” — an opinion shared by some historians — but his administration also wants to show that it’s proud of what they’ve accomplished thus far.

The roll out of accolade documentation has been a little rocky.

A statement from the White House distributed Tuesday said that President Franklin Delano Roosevelt had only signed nine executive orders in his first 100 days in office. As history professor Peter A. Shulman pointed out on Twitter, the actual number is 99. The White House appears to have pulled the number from the American Presidency Project, which lists just some of Roosevelt’s major signings. When the mistake was pointed out to the administration, the White House said Trump still had signed the most executive orders since Roosevelt.

There was also a discrepancy between the number of executive orders credited to Harry S. Truman. Truman signed 57 executive orders in the 100 days following Roosevelt’s death in 1945, but only 25 — the number used by the White House — at the beginning of his term following the 1948 election.

The heavy reliance on executive orders instead of signing congressional legislation goes against a critique of Trump the candidate…”

“A feisty, creative civic spirit is igniting activists in nearly every zip code.

A majority of the public almost always blesses new presidents with a honeymoon gift. In a gesture of patriotic fairness, even people who voted against the incoming chief say, Okay, we’ll give you a chance. We’re hoping you’ll be better than we thought.

This grace period usually lasts a while before the public starts to sour. As New York Times columnist Charles Blow noted, our last five presidents enjoyed lengthy periods in office before a majority of Americans registered disapproval:

* Ronald Reagan–2 years
* George W. Bush–3 years, 3 months
* George H. W. Bush–3 years, 1 month
* Barack Obama–1 year, 3 months
* Bill Clinton–1 year, 7 months

Enter The Donald, whose policies, personality, moral principles, and assorted psychoses have rocketed him through the shortest honeymoon ever. His performance achieved majority disapproval in… just 8 days!…”

“As President Trump approaches 100 days in office, Adam Gabbatt surveys the resistance movement’s biggest moments so far, key groups, and challenges ahead

It’s not just by chance that Donald Trump’s first 100 days have been so underwhelming. The president’s failure to pass healthcare reform, to ban people from entering the country, and arguably to achieve anything of note (beyond his supreme court justice) is down, in no small part, to the efforts of hundreds of thousands of people across the country.

Activists have pressured their representatives, held mass demonstrations and scrambled to protect those at risk in a rollercoaster few months. Trump has until January 2021 to turn things around, but there seems little sign of the resistance fading away…”

“WASHINGTON — Think President Trump’s first 100 days were bumpy? Just wait for the 1,361 to follow.

It’s no surprise that Trump, who has been shattering political precedent since he announced his candidacy and then won the White House, would continue to break new ground once he moved into the Oval Office — though not always in a good way.

The courts have blocked his signature immigration ban. Congress has balked at delivering on his promise to repeal the Affordable Care Act. The FBI is investigating Russian meddling in the election, an issue that forced the resignation of his national security adviser and is likely to cast a shadow over the administration for months or more. The public gives him record-low approval ratings for a new president.

Braced for bad reviews when Trump reaches the unofficial milestone Saturday, the White House has been pushing back on the idea that his first 100 days have been a bust…”

DONALD TRUMP’S LATEST APPROVAL RATINGS IN ELECTION SWING STATES SHOW HOW UNPOPULAR HE REALLY IS article from Newsweek. –
http://www.newsweek.com/donald-trumps-latest-approval-ratings-election-swing-states-588108

“It’s no secret President Donald Trump’s approval rating on the national level has been relatively low his entire tenure in the White House. But polls show he’s also struggling to garner support in the swing states that won him the 2016 presidential election over Democratic nominee Hillary Clinton.

Roughly 41.9 percent of Americans approve of Trump’s job performance, compared with 52.3 percent who disapprove, according to the FiveThirtyEight aggregate of polls. Polls from swing states similarly show Trump’s approval rating under water, making him the least popular newly elected president in decades.

A March survey of Wisconsin found 41 percent of registered voters approved of his job performance while 47 percent disapproved. A February poll conducted by Franklin & Marshall College found just 32 percent of voters in Pennsylvania approved of Trump’s job performance. An EPIC MRA survey the same month pegged his support in Michigan at 40 percent, with 54 percent disapproving. In Ohio, a March Baldwin Wallace University poll found 49 percent of the state viewed the president unfavorably, while 46 percent viewed him favorably.

And it goes on. In North Carolina, which Trump won narrowly, his approval rating stood at just 36 percent earlier this month, according to a High Point University poll. Fifty-four percent disapproved. In Florida, a large, key state that helped hand Trump the win, his approval stood at just 34 percent with two-thirds of the state disapproving, according to a February survey by Florida Atlantic University. A poll later in February by Associated Industries of Florida did find that 81 percent of Republicans approved of Trump’s job performance…”
